If you’ve been shooting with the RED Komodo, Canon EOS C70, Canon EOS R5/R6, and you’re looking for some of the most affordable anamorphic lenses in the market, the MTF Services SIRUI 35mm and 50mm 1.33 anamorphic lenses are now compatible with your camera, with a native Canon RF Mount! Let’s take a closer look at this!

MTF Services is moving fast! Indeed, this week, they already launched L-Mount versions of the SIRUI 35mm and 50mm 1.33x anamorphic lenses. Today, they have announced something many Canon and RED Komodo shooters were hoping for: RF Mount versions of SIRUI’s affordable anamorphic primes.

Native Canon RF Mount lenses are getting more and more popular as cameras such as the RED Komodo, Canon EOS C70 and Canon EOS R5/R6 have greatly impacted the camera market this year. This lens mount is getting popular because of a relatively short flange focal distance of only 20mm, which makes adapting existing Super35/full-frame lenses possible. For example, MTF Services already released an RF Mount Conversion Kit for FUJINON MK lenses.

These converted lenses are based on the Micro 4/3 versions of the SIRUI 50mm F/1.8 and 35mm F/1.8. Each lens retains its compact dimensions, allowing for easy handheld or gimbal operation.

As far as camera compatibility goes, the RED Komodo 6K sensor is fully covered by both the SIRUI lenses’ image circle. For Canon shooters, the Canon EOS C70 is also fully covered, so you can create 4K 2.4:1 anamorphic images. The same goes for the Canon EOS R in 4K video recording mode.

However, for the Canon EOS R5/R6, the MTF Services SIRUI 35mm and 50mm lens image circles do not fully cover the full-frame sensor. You can use them, but you’ll need to shoot in full-frame mode and crop in post-production, to around 1.35x.

    Price and Availability

The conversion needs to be performed by MTF Services and requires precise mechanical modification of a lens, to fit the new mount. The lenses are available pre-converted via authorized MTF Services dealers.

The RF-mount-converted SIRUI 50mm F/1.8 anamorphic costs £499 (plus VAT) for the base lens, plus £150 (plus VAT) for the conversion. The 35mm F/1.8 anamorphic costs £637 (plus VAT) for the base lens and an extra £150 (plus VAT) for the conversion.

Both lenses are available now from authorized MTF Services dealers or directly via MTF Services. For more information, please visit the MTF Services’ website here.
