SmallHD and Teradek have teamed up to create a series of wireless monitors that remove complexity and add a new level of convenience. The new wireless monitors are shipping now, says the company.

The new wireless solution was unveiled at NAB 2018, last April. SmallHD presented then their FOCUS Bolt TX and RX, wireless monitors with touchscreen. The new models mix features of the FOCUS family with the Bolt solutions already available at SmallHD and are designed with mobility in mind. The transmission in the 5GHz band from a single TX can be received by as many as four FOCUS Bolt RXs within a range up to 500 feet, meaning they allow directors, directors of photography, DITs and lighting directors to view live takes, preview and review scenes, untethered.


Regarding the new simplified onset wireless monitoring solution, Wes Phillips, SmallHD CEO explained then, “With the FOCUS Bolt RX/TX we have created a sleek and capable wireless monitor ecosystem that puts our feature-rich displays in the hands of the director who can freely roam around the set.”



The FOCUS Bolt Sidekick RX


With the addition of the FOCUS Bolt Sidekick RX, real-time wireless monitoring has never been this simple, says the company now. Wireless for all is the goal. The FOCUS Bolt Sidekick RX is a 5-inch daylight viewable touchscreen with built-in Teradek receiver. The lightweight monitor with handles features a built-in 500ft HD wireless receiver (compatible with FOCUS Bolt TX and Teradek Bolt 500,1000, and 3000 transmitters).

With a 5-inch 1280×720, 294 PPI display, brightness of 800 nits, inputs for Wireless, Micro HDMI, Micro USB and: ⅛” headphone jack and 7.2v Power, the monitor is powered by a Sony L series battery. The price is $2199.00.



A wireless monitor with SDI is coming


The second monitor available this month is the FOCUS Bolt 500 RX. With a 5-inch display, a host of software tools, and a built-in Teradek wireless receiver, this touchscreen monitor is perfect for a director, client, or focus puller on the move. The included neck strap and monitor handles make this new product extra handy. The FOCUS Bolt 500 RX costs $1499.00.

SmallHD also launches the FOCUS Bolt 500 TX 5-inch monitor. This daylight viewable SmallHD monitor has a built-in Teradek wireless transmitter inside. It’s easy to see, easy to rig, and pairs with up to 4 different wireless devices on set. The FOCUS Bolt 500 TX costs $1499.00.

The next monitor in this family is the FOCUS Bolt 500 TX SDI, which is “coming soon”. The monitor will share specifications with the FOCUS Bolt 500 TX 5-inch monitor, but will have a SDI input instead of Micro HDMI. SmallHD has not yet announced the price for this model.
