2016 đó là một năm thú vị cho các đề cử, phim The Revenant của Alejandro G Inarritu thắng lớn tại Quả cầu vàng tiếp tục dẫn đầu với 12 đề cử, trong đó có các đề cử quan trọng như Phim hay nhất, Đạo diễn xuất sắc nhất, Nam diễn viên chính xuất sắc nhất (dành cho Leonardo DiCaprio).

Lễ trao giải Oscar 2016 sẽ diễn ra vào ngày 28/2 tại Nhà hát Dolby ở Hollywood. Chương trình được phát trực tiếp trên kênh ABC vào lúc 7 tối (giờ EST).
