The StandPro is a flexible camera support that aims to replace the conventional tripod for lightning-fast solo shooting. As a large tension arm with a built-in floor dolly, the StandPro can hold a camera in any position up to 64 inches by simply lifting it. There are no knobs to lock or screws to turn, tension holds it in place.

It’s not déjà vu; we’ve seen this exact same system before. Edelkrone released the StandPLUS back in 2016 but for whatever reason, their product is no longer available.

    StandPro vs. StandPLUS

The StandPro is the exact same system as the StandPLUS, sold under another name and brand. They are even using some of the same promotional materials.

It might seem simple, but for solo shooters repositioning a tripod can be a daunting task. Shooters have to hold the camera in the perfect spot, lock all 2-3 sections of each leg, and try to not drop the camera while doing it.

Tripods like the Sachtler Flowtech, which features a single clamping lever for each leg, attempt to make things easier but that convenience comes at a premium.

The StandPRO eliminates all knobs, levers, buttons, and extending legs. It uses pivoting hinges that hold their position without having to loosen or tighten anything.

The system allows a solo shooter to position a camera from 28.1 inches to a maximum height of 64 inches in seconds. It also has dual bearings on the dolly wheels to provide durability on flat surfaces.

    StandPro Key Features

    • 40 lb (18 kg) carrying capacity (on ground)
    • 20 lb (9 kg) carrying capacity (on tripod)
    • 64 in (162,6 cm) actual body length
    • 10.5 lb (4.8 kg) actual body weight
    • Operated manually
    • Has built-in foldable legs with locking mechanism
    • 100% CNC machined aluminum body

This could be the perfect system for a solo shooter who films on mostly flat surfaces. There is no indication of how this would perform on uneven flooring.

It is always best to be cautious putting expensive cameras onto a tripod. If one knob isn’t tightened completely, the whole thing is going to tip over and you’ll be left with a broken camera. The pivoting hinges should work well to hold a small mirrorless camera in place. And best of all, if it falls it would only fall straight down and not to the side.

    Pricing

The StandPro can be purchased for $39.99 from the company’s website. Please keep in mind that this is shipping from a Chinese online store so shipping and customs fees may apply.
