Recently, I was a guest at the TVLogic headquarters in Korea. The company is a leading manufacturer of popular monitors for post production houses, field productions and independent filmmakers. I’ve always wanted to see (and hear) how monitors are being made and my visit was a great opportunity to explore their facility, meet the friendly staff and on top, to be able to share my little film with you guys, as here at cinema5D we try to “put a face” on different companies from our industry and bring them a bit closer to our audience.


TVLogic’s driving force – Dedicated workers


It’s almost the end of November. I’ve just finished covering a successful Inter BEE in Japan, and making a quick “Jump” to Korea to visit TVLogic seemed the right thing to do. After all, for a very long time I was curious to see and find out how monitors are being made. The friendly people at TVLogic were kind enough to host me for a couple of days and you can watch the outcome of this visit in the video above.


Heat stress test – 40 degrees Celsius and still going


TVLogic was established in 2002 and since then it became one of the leading monitor manufacturers in our industry. Those high quality LCD monitors were not always accessible for the occasional independent filmmaker as the price of their products was (at times) beyond the reach of many. But now, under the leadership of Charlie Shin, they are committed to change their pricing strategy and make them more affordable. This is of course good news as competition, and quality tools for all levels of productions, is always welcome! Another interesting point to have in mind is the acquisition of NextoDI, a small company (also from Korea) that is specialised in producing back up solution devices for our filming industry. As a result TVLogic has big plans to take NextoDi to the next level of usability and the outcome of this cooperation will see the light of day during Q1 of 2019 (while visiting, Charlie and Larry-From NextoDi- confirmed that their next product will have a larger, brighter LCD screen which is a very welcoming thing considering the current quality of their NextoDi screens).

So with around 80 employees, TVLogic is able to maintain efficiency and quality, and not less important, keep its production line within Korea (Hence one of the reasons for higher pricing).
