Vaxis recently released a series of aluminum lens caps: the Vaxis AMARANTH. These lens caps are available in Sony E-Mount, Canon EF and RF mounts, as well as PL mount. Let’s take a closer look at them! Chinese company Vaxis is mostly known for making affordable wireless video transmitter systems like the ATOM 500, the ATOM 500 SDI, or more recently the ATOM 600 KV for the RED KOMODO. The company recently released a new and somewhat unusual kind of product: an aluminum lens cap called the Vaxis AMARANTH. Image credit: Vaxis Vaxis AMARANTH – Features Let me make something clear: aluminum lens caps are not a new thing (nor necessary, but hey, they look cool and classy!), and various options from Kondor Blue, LockCircle, or GDU are already available on the market. Image credit: Vaxis The Vaxis AMARANTH are CNC machined anti-dust/scratch/vibration lens caps entirely made from aluminum. They feature a loophole if you want to attach a lanyard to it. Image credit: Vaxis At the moment, four lens mount options are available: Canon RF, Canon EF, Sony E, and PL mount. All lens caps are grey, but the cap center has a different color depending on the lens mount. What’s nice with aluminum lens caps is that they’ll last you a lifetime, they are easy to clean compared to plastic ones, and the ninja star shape of the Vaxis AMARANTH should make operations smooth and easy even with gloves on.
