FilmConvert recently released a new picture profile for the SIGMA fp. This addition lets you color grade SIGMA fp footage fast and quickly with either FilmConvert or FilmConvert Nitrate. FilmConvert will soon add this color/sensor profile to CineMatch so you can use the tiny fp as a perfect and affordable B cam on your next project. Let’s take a closer look at it!

Surely by now you have noticed, we at CineD really like FilmConvert products. If you’re new to FilmConvert “original”, this plugin (also available as a stand-alone app) allows you to easily grade your footage and simulate the look, including color and grain, of various film stocks. The company recently launched FilmConvert Nitrate that we discussed here, a much more advanced version which is slowly starting to replace the original FilmConvert Pro plugin.

FilmConvert’s plugins are based on the camera sensors’ data that are made by their in-house team. That way, FilmConvert can precisely match cameras in CineMatch or perfectly simulate a film stock in Nitrate. There are dozens of camera packs already available for download directly from FilmConvert’s website.

The team at FilmConvert is constantly releasing new custom profiles, like the ones for the Canon EOS R5, the Panasonic S5, the Canon EOS C70, the “low-light monster” Sony a7S III, and so on. Recently, FilmConvert introduced a new profile for the SIGMA fp.

The SIGMA fp is a compact, L-mount camera that features a full-frame sensor. But don’t let its size fool you, as it is capable of shooting ProRes RAW and BRAW externally to the Atomos Ninja V and Blackmagic Video Assist respectively as well as 12-bit lossless CinemaDNG RAW files in 4K UHD resolution internally. The FilmConvert profile for the SIGMA fp includes a CinemaDNG BMD Film profile for all users shooting RAW and using FilmConvert in DaVinci Resolve.
