MOZA just introduced its latest smartphone gimbal: the MOZA Mini MX. With a maximum payload capacity of 280g/9.9oz, this gimbal fits in the palm of your hand with a size of only 75 x 50 x 170mm when folded. Also, with an aggressive price-tag of only $89.00, the MOZA Mini MX is a stabilizer you can always have with you to improve your smartphone shooting experience. Let’s take a closer look at it!

    MOZA Mini MX Features

The MOZA Mini MX is the brand’s new and most affordable smartphone gimbal to date, the successor of the MOZA Mini-S. This latest version can take a maximum payload of 280g/9.9oz, which is enough to support the iPhone 11 Pro Max or a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, for example.

The gimbal is super compact when folded, with a size of only 75 x 50 x 170mm. The Mini MX fits in the palm of your hand; it weighs 412g/14.5oz and won’t take that much space in your daily backpack. When you unfold it, all you have to do is attach your smartphone at the top of the gimbal, and switch it on via the dedicated button on the handgrip.

Talking about power, the gimbal features a built-in 2000mAh battery with a battery life of around 20 hours, according to MOZA. You can charge the Mini MX in 2.5 hours via the USB Type-C port on the side.

The MOZA Mini MX connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth. You can use it with the MOZA Genia App – available for iOS and Android devices – or with the built-in camera app of your smartphone.

On the handgrip, you’ll find all the gimbal controls. You’ll find the On/Off button, a joystick to control the pan/tilt/roll motors, plus/minus buttons to change modes or adjust camera settings. Also, the On/Off button doubles up as a photo/video trigger button, and if you press it three times, it switches between landscape and portrait mode.

When you hold the gimbal, you’ll find another trigger button under your index, that resets the gimbal’s position. Finally, there is a 1/4-20″ mounting thread at the base of the MOZA Mini MX. This allows you to mount the gimbal on a tripod/selfie stick if you want.

    MOZA Genie App

If you want to get the best out of the MOZA Mini MX, you’ll have to download the MOZA Genie App. Indeed, the app unlocks the Magic Mode that features several built-in templates to help you shoot and edit your video. If you don’t want to use this mode, you can record and edit all your clips inside the app as well.

Also, various creative shooting modes are available: timelapse mode, slow-motion mode, fast-tracking mode, inception mode, sport-gear mode, and vertigo mode. You’re probably familiar with most of these modes, as they are common to a lot of gimbals nowadays.

However, the fast-tracking mode will automatically follow and keep the subject in focus while it’s moving. This feature is handy if you are shooting yourself with the gimbal on a tripod/stand.

If you don’t have a camera operator with you, the MOZA Genie App also supports Smart Gesture Control to trigger the shutter and start/stop recording.
