Renderro is a cloud-based workplace that offers powerful virtual workstations and cloud storage. It is accessible from any device with decent internet uplink via a managing platform. Piotr Chomczyk from Renderro explained to Johnnie how he got the idea of starting the service and how the platform really works.

I already wrote an article about Renderro at the beginning of December 2020. We found the concept behind it quite innovative and interesting, so we decided to contact the company and make a short interview with Renderro’s founder Piotr Chomczyk to find out more about the idea behind it.

Renderro – cloud-based workplace


Piotr first got the idea of creating Renderro when he had to manage a larger feature film production where the production and post-production teams were partially in the USA, Poland, and the Czech Republic. The idea behind Renderro is to provide powerful cloud workstations combined with cloud storage that is accessible from anywhere in the world and manageable with a simple laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

Renderro promises to be suitable for any creative person that sometimes needs high computing power for a certain project, but does not want to invest in an expensive workstation. As it is accessible from anywhere, it can also be an interesting option for people who travel a lot. On Renderro, users can create multiple workstations that can run any software. The power of each workstation is also scalable.

Renderro’s system and its virtual workstations are running on Windows, but users can connect to them via any device with Windows, macOS, iOS, or Android – computer, tablet, or smartphone.

When it comes to storing your project files, Renderro offers two types of storage. Files can be freely moved between these types.

• Hot Storage includes fast drives and it is meant to be for projects that are currently being worked on. There is a monthly payment for the hot storage depending on its size available.
• Cold Storage is where the old projects can be archived. Cold storage can expand in size according to the needs.

How fast does your internet have to be?


When it comes to your Internet connection speed requirements, Renderro recommends a download speed of at least 50Mbps for each 4K monitor when working with the virtual workstations. For additional monitors, the connection must be correspondingly faster. Renderro supports up to four 4K monitors, so in this case the Internet connection would need to be at least 200Mbps.

When uploading the footage to Renderro, the upload speed is, of course, very important. Depending on the type and amount of footage, this operation can take a very long time with slow upload speeds.

Pricing and availability


Renderro is already available and fully functional. As I wrote in my previous article, Renderro uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model for cloud workstations, so you only pay per hour when working with Renderro. The price spans from $1.60 to $10 per hour depending on how strong the workstation needs to be.

Additionally, there is a monthly payment for the amount of Hot storage used. It starts at 10$ per month for 200GB. Cold storage is unlimited and free. More information on pricing can be found here.

For new users, Renderro offers a free trial with $10 credit for workstations use and one free month of hot storage.
