MTF Services has just announced that they’re now able to convert the SIRUI 24mm F/2.8 1.33x anamorphic lens to L-Mount and RF-Mount. The SIRUI 24mm F/2.8 now joins the current 35mm F/1.8 and 50mm F/1.8 conversions.

Lens manufacturer SIRUI announced the launch on Indiegogo of a 24mm F/2.8 1.33x anamorphic lens earlier this year. The successful crowdfunding campaign reached a whopping €1.4M, and the lens is already shipping.

Unfortunately for many filmmakers, SIRUI anamorphic lenses only covered Super35/APS-C sensors and were only available in five lens mounts: Canon EF-M, FUJIFILM X, Nikon Z, Sony E, or M4/3.

British lens specialized company MTF Services started converting SIRUI’s previous anamorphic lenses, the 50mm F/1.8 and 35mm F/1.8, to Panasonic L-Mount and a couple of weeks later Canon RF mount. MTF services just announced that they’ll now support the SIRUI 24mm F/2.8 in L-Mount and RF-Mount too.

RED Komodo, Canon C70, Panasonic LUMIX S1H, S1 and S5 shooters will be happy! Indeed, thanks to MTF Services, the “affordable” wide-angle anamorphic SIRUI 24mm F/2.8 lens is now available in their favorite lens mount.

With this new addition, you can now get access to a trio of 1.33x anamorphic lenses on a budget: the SIRUI 24mm F/2.8, 35mm F/1.8 and 50mm F/1.8.

The conversion is based on the M4/3 version of the 24mm lens, and according to MTF Services:

This modification is a more complex process than the previous 35 and 50mm lenses. The new conversion requires MTF Services to machine away part of the lens barrel before the new mount can be attached. The bonus is that the lens can still be converted back to the original M4/3 mount by the user and will function, although the barrel will remain in its modified form and cannot be restored to its original state.

You probably got it, you can’t do this SIRUI 24mm F/2.8 1.33x L-Mount/RF-Mount conversion by yourself.

Currently, your only option is to purchase the pre-converted lens by MTF Services in either RF mount for $1350/€1100 (plus tax) or L mount for the same price. Both lenses are available to order now from MTF Services or its authorized dealers.
